OpenMed at the World Congress for Middle Eastern Studies: Readiness to adopt OER in the MENA region

The OpenMed project has been presented today, July 17 2018, at the World Congress for Middle Eastern Studies (WOCMES) in Seville by our OpenMed colleague Isidro Maya-Jariego from the Department of Social Psychology of the University of Seville.

 

His presentation focused on the factors that facilitate the adaptation of OER in the MENA region, and on the process of localization of educational content, when higher education institutions reuse, rework or remix OERs designed in a culturally different context.

Using the community readiness model (Edwards et al., 2000) the case of OpenMed has been examines, reviewing the role of institutional and personal factors, such as technological equipment, attitudes towards open education, digital competences, organizational factors, language, local relevance, and cultural characteristics.
